US Indoor Skydiving hires Randy Connell as Director of Operations


 Virginia Beach, Va. – USIS is pleased to welcome aboard Randy Connell as Director of Operations. Connell brings more than 20 years of experience and proven leadership in skydiving competition, judging/judge training, and event management to our team.

“The goal is to develop and advance the rapidly evolving sport of indoor skydiving by drawing on decades of experience in similar sports, while also innovating to provide a competition framework uniquely suited to this worldwide, all-ages activity,” Connell said. “I am excited and ready to take on the challenge!” 

As Director of Operations, Connell will lead in all aspects of daily operations, long-term planning, and development of various programs.

“Randy is a strategic hire who will have an instant impact on the quality and growth of the sport” said Robert Pizzini, USIS Executive Director. He added that “we are quite fortunate to have Randy as our first full time staff member”

SDC Core Sets New VFS 4-Way Single Round World Record

As the first day of VFS 4-way competition came to a close at the 2019 USIS National Indoor Skydiving Championships hosted by iFly Virginia Beach, SDC Core (Rook Nelson, Dusty Hanks, Jason Russell and Stephanie Strange) turned in a score of 63 formations in the 8 th   round.  Pending ratification by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), this blistering performance sets a new FAI World Record for this type of record.  This accomplishment will also be the North American Continental record.  SDC Core set the previous record of 56 formations in 2017 during the 2 nd  FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships.
